The site is maintained and updated by me (Alastair Campbell). I work for a company called Nomensa that specialises in making web sites as easy to use and accessible as possible.

Thanks also goes to the Photographers, especially Simon Crowther, Antony Burdett-Clark (racing) and John Carter (freewave), who contributed the pictures that adorn the top of every page.

Technical stuff

After several months of research, I chose Bytemark hosting, as it gives the equivelent of a dedicated server at a fraction of the cost. With this power, space and bandwidth we can hold more media and work on a much better site.

There are several open source applications used by the site, if anyone would like to try the same things:

Wordpress

A ‘blog‘, used for the news, reports and information sections.

Mailman

Used for the committee discussions and news-letter email out to members

PunBB

The forum

Simple Picture Gallery Manager

For displaying the Pics n vids section, and using the gallery mage program to prepare the pictures.

Events Calendar

This is a custom little application written for the UKWA site, I’ll try and release this as a PHP/MySQL project at some point.
