About the website

The site is maintained by me (Alastair Campbell), and updated by various members of the committee, usually the Chairman Bob Ingram.

Thanks also goes to the Photographers, I've put together a credits page so you can see which are attributed to whom.

Technical stuff

After several months of research, I chose Bytemark hosting, as it gives the equivalent of a dedicated server at a fraction of the cost. With this power, space and bandwidth we can hold more media and work on a much better site.

There are several open source applications used by the site, if anyone would like to try the same things:

Django

A framework for creating dynamic websites, used for the everything except the forum and contact pages.

Mailman

Used for the committee discussions, slalom groups and news-letter.

Vanilla Forum

For displaying the Pics n vids section (2001 - 2009), although I'm using the Django based Photologue for 2010 onwards.
