Members Emails

Get your own UKWindsurfing Email Address:

You can now get your own UKWA Email address, by ticking the box on your membership form and adding the £10 to your total membership fee. (This email address can be renewed each year.)

The UKWA email address acts as a ‘forwarder’ to your usual email address. Anything sent to that address will go to your usual address, and you can change your settings to make emails you send appear to come fron the UKWA address. (Details below).

How do you get your email address?

Once you’ve sent off your membership form, email info@ukwindsurfing.com with the email address you would like, and the email address you would like it to go to.

The only requirement is that you already have an email address.
If you want emails you send to appear to come from the UKWA address, you need to be using a program to download your email (e.g. Outlook), you may not be able to change the settings on a webmail account (e.g. Yahoo! webmail).

What email address can you have?

Basically anything @ukwindsurfing.com, however, there is a guideline: It should include either you proper name, and/or your sail number.

There are official addresses (e.g. webmaster, info, racing, stretch…), but good examples of member’s addresses are:

  • john.smith@ukwindsurfing.com
  • john.gbr100@ukwindsurfing.com
  • gbr100@ukwindsurfing.com

How do I set my email up?

Because the UKWA address acts as a fowarder, you can carry on using your current email and you will automatically receive all the email sent to your new UKWA address. To make the email you send appear to come from your new address, you just need to adjust your settings. (NB This may not be possible using web-mail):

  • Open your email program
  • Open your account settings (often in Tools > Account Settings)
  • Replace the item ‘Email address’ with your new UKWA email address

That’s it, don’t touch any other settings!

Hotmail/Gmail/Yahoo mail

If you use an online email service, sometimes it is necessary to adjust some options to make sure you receive the emails ok. For example, in Hotmail:

Do not add it as an alternative address. The is intended as another address to send things like password reminders, whereas we are trying to send email to your hotmail inbox.

Go to the options, and click on “Safe and Blocked senders”, then “Safe senders”, and add your UKWA address here.

You can also adjust the “Reply to address” so that people reply to your UKWA email address as well:

Next time you compose a new email, adjust the drop-down ‘from’ at the top, and ‘add an email address’. This will ask you for the address, and then send you an email to verify that you receive those emails. Then you can choose to send emails that appear to come from the UKWA address.
