The 2006 Colgate PWA World Cup Sylt

Update: Ross Willams finished the event in 4th place losing out on third place to a tie break with Arnon Dagan, .

Ross, Gybing inside Arnon and ahead of Micah. Micah Buzianis (US-34) stays top dog for another day in the Slalom 42 as the wind fails to materialize.

Light breezes tantalized the PWA’s finest racers throughout day four, nearing contestable strength on several occasions, including a scramble to start the fourth heat of race 2. Sadly large patches of light wind on the course area forced the race director to raise the postponement flag once more, and the competitors were sent back to the beach to wait even further.

The outlook for the rest of the week looks a lot better with some promise for the wave and freestyle fleets. In the meantime Buzianis, Arnon Dagan (ISR-1) in second position, and Ross Williams (GBR-83) in third are forced to wait and watch for a chance to consolidate their positions.

The previous days have had a lot of execitment:

Micah Buzianis (US-34 JP / NeilPryde) takes the initiative by winning the opening race, as disaster, bad luck and mistakes keep the rest of the top players on edge. First tour leader Antoine Albeau (F192 Starboard / NeilPryde) is disqualified for dangerous sailing, before Bjorn Dunkerbeck (E-11, T1 / North) sails the wrong course when clearly in the lead. Next Finian Maynard (KV-11 F2 / NeilPryde) crashed out due to equipment failure, leaving the door wide open for second ranked Kevin Pritchard (USA-3 Starboard / MauiSails), who fails to capatalise by rolling home in 10th place.
