Slalom at Hove

Jamie HawkinsThe first day of slalom saw 8 Rounds of downwind slalom in excellent conditions! Most people used 6.5m sails in rolling swell, Sunday dawned with 20+ knots and most people on 5.5m sails in small breaking waves.


UKWA/LWA Inlands report

Oxford SC put on a beautiful sunny day and even an RAF flypast for a superb turnout of 29 Technos, 22 Raceboards, 13 RS:Xs and 5 Formula sailors as well as 30 Juniors sailing on the Team 15 Course, of whom 8 stayed to sail on the Main Course on the Sunday.

Raceboard and RSX on the startline.After an uncertain forecast all week, Saturday dawned warn and sunny with a brisk N-Easterly breeze. Christchurch is always a popular venue for the Raceboard fleet and this year was no exception with one of the strongest fleets for many a regatta.


Minster report

The Wet n’ dry Slalom event hosted by Minster Windsurf Academy took place at the weekend with over 30 entrants making the journey down the Isle of Sheppy, some of these journeys proving longer than others with Robbie Swift and Dan Ellis flying all the way in from Maui to compete in The UKWA’s second round of the JP Neil Pryde Slalom series.

an international flavour to the second round of the 2008 Cup Seies .The formula fleet attracted top class entries from (ITA456); (SUI322); (DEN13); and Allison Shreeve (AUS911) completing her visit to uk to promote the Formula One-Design for 2012.
However the star turn of the weekend fell to Ross Williams (GBR83) making an unscheduled , but nevertheless welcome, visit to UK.


Rutland Techno Report

Rutland Water, Part 2 of the UKWA Inland Series and an RYA selection event for those wishing to apply for the 2008/2009 Bic Techno National Junior Squad and also part of the selection process for the team who will represent Team GBR at the Techno World Championships in Sopot, Poland in August. National Squad coach Oli Woodcock, together with Ian Roberts and Isy Hutchinson were in attendance on behalf of the RYA.

Junior Windsurfers make waves at Whitwell…

Event director Helen Cartwright is confident Britain’s windsurfing champions of tomorrow were among the 62-strong fleet when the country’s most promising young windsurfers did battle at the first ever RYA National Junior Windsurfing Championships at Whitwell, Rutland Water this weekend (17-18 May).


Whitwell delivers… 8 races for 125 competitors

A great turnout for Inlands 2, with over 120 racers competing in 8 races (including the marathon )…and that was just the main course! Congratulations to Midland Region for another super event.

A successful days racing at Whitwell,Rutland Water- with 3 races for all fleets and the Marathon. The marathon record set by Ross Williams remains intact , but despite “challenging” conditons the top 4 positions were filled by formula racers..


35 entries for Rhosneigr….

Despite the lack of wind & waves at Rhosneigr, the 35 entrants who made their way to North Wales had a cracking weekend of longboard windsurfing, wake boarding, snowboarding and endless toboggan runs at Llandudno Ski Centre and of course some quality evening entertainment courtesy of Dave Buckland and his crew.
