The UKWA CUP SERIES kicked off last weekend with the Welsh Cup and the UKWA’s first trip to Swansea; hosted by the Mumbles Yacht Club (MYC). Four races were completed for all fleets.

The 2008 Inland series gets off to a fantastic start with 88 entries at Carsington. Despite the extreme cold, the race team gave competitors nine rounds of course racing which was both exciting and extremely competitive.

Andy defeated rivals Steve Thorpe (2nd) and John Hibbard (3rd) to win the Pro Fleet in round 1 of the 4 Nations. Louise Emery won the Amateurs and Tom Knox the Juniors.

A perfect head high swell greeted the sailors on day three of the Four Nations Championships in Brandon Bay, Ireland.
Today it was the turn of the Amateurs, Juniors, Ladies and Irish pros to have they’re crack at the emerald lips of Brandon Bay.

The 2008 JP/Pryde Series got underway today in Clacton.
In the Top Flight there was a welcome return to competition for Jamie Hawkins (GBR 96)-jamie enjoyed his first event after a break of 5 years.! It was much closer at the top of Challenge fleet with young pretender Paul Kearns fighting off the challenge of masters Adrian Wallis & Dave “vinnie” Standing.

The 2008 Techno 293 European Championships, held in Chivitavecchia , near Rome , has finished. The brits put in a good performance and ended with podium placings in both the 7.8 and 6.8 divisions for boys.

Why is it lost? Is it really an ‘art’, and why should I do classic freestyle when I could just be sailing around? More to the point; is it really fun and why is it? Does this mean there is no fun if one doesn’t freestyle? ……….

This weekend turned out to be an excellent training session with Techno and RSX. The conditions on Saturday were cold however had 10-22 knots with some tricky gusts, managing speeds of up to 30mph; It was more of survival training session.
Mark really does push the sailors to the limit; no matter how hard the sailors think they are working Mark seems to get them to work ever harder.
