Quite a few UKWA sailors are staying active in the off-season:
Zara Davis from the broke the 500m national speed record, at the Namibia speed event. Dave White, got the top speed of the day at 42.91knots on his Tabou production board. (Story on Boardseeker.)
Dan Simpson won the RYA Thames Valley Young Sailor of the Year, with an impressive array of results this year.

The BBC honour Keith Atkinson in a glittering ceremony held at the Priestfield Stadium in Gillingham. It was the BBC’s annual evening honouring the South East’s sports personalities of 2006.

The BBC has again nominated Keith Atkinson, the UK’s 2006 Triple Formula Windsurfing Champion, for the BBC South East sports awards. The ceremony is to be held on the 4th December will be filmed for Broadcast on BBC South East and Southern counties radio and is also televised on the BBC South East news.

European Champion Nick Dempsey took a clean sweep of race wins at the final RYA Olympic Classes National Ranking Series for 2006, held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy this weekend (28-29 October). Full story on RYA.org.uk.

Congratulations to Zara Davis, following on from the Speed World Cup event in Namibia, Zara has finished this years programme as 3rd fastest woman, and 2nd in the production board series. Full results. Pete Davis is the new Chairman of ISA ; and has been invited to join UKWA Committee with a view to generating new interest in UK Speed. More details will follow.

It was down to the wire for Keith Atkinson who finished the 2006 UK Formula Windsurfing season by winning all five races in the final UKWA Inland event held at Farmoor. The win gave Keith not only the 2006 British Formula Inland Windsurfing Championship title but it added vital points that he required to retain his 2005 overall title making him the 2006 British Formula Windsurfing Champion.

This is a no nonsense, full-on training programme in a good fun kind of way and this would be a good grounding for anyone hoping to pass selection or just improve on their sailing abilities. You may think no wind no training, you may have to think again, even when there is no wind we still have loads to learn. All you need to do is look at last year’s students and see the results.

15 entrants enjoyed sunshine and F4/5 (12-16knots) Cross shore westerly winds to sail the open sea course from Overcombe Corner, upwind into Portland Harbour and out again for a 3 mile blistering close reach to the finish on the beach.

The final day of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Silvaplana brought the event to a thrilling climax. Today the famous marathon race was sailed. It was this historical final race which decided about the victory in the discipline Racing as Ross Williams was fighting head to head with his hardest opponent Arnon Dagan for top honours on the podium. UKWA racer Liam Round GBR948 takes under 15 title at Youth & Master Formula Worlds in Westende, Belgium. Racing over 5 days in light wind conditions Liam beat his nearest under 15 rival by 15 points.
