Freestyle 2 - Wittering, West

Sat 4th - Sun 5th May

The UKWA 2013 Freestyle Tour kicked off in grand  style, in West Kirby, freestyle capital of the North, where great conditions saw some top class competition.  The Bank Holiday weekend sees us moving to West Wittering, arguably the freestyle capital of the South.

We've set the timing of the event to coincide with low tides in the middle of the day, ensuring competition can take place on the super flat legendary West Wittering lagoon.

Our hosts are the West Wittering Windsurfing Club, located right on the edge of the beautiful beach.  We're sure the wind's going to blow, but just in case it doesn't we've the UKWA jetski lined up to provide tow in action.

Simon Bassett and his team at X-Train are always the perfect hosts and make sure a big welcome is given to all competitors.

Make a holiday of it.  Even those who've not yet seen the light and taken up windsurfing will have a great time soaking up the atmosphere in this great part of the UK.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible and, remember, this year every event counts towards determining who the National UKWA Freestyle Tour Champions for 2013 are.

Plan is to run the event over Saturday and Sunday but, given it's the Bank Holiday weekend, if there's no wind on Saturday and Sunday and a perfect forecast for the Monday we may roll one day of the event over to the Monday.  Let me know if that causes you any concerns.

Details on the Venue are attached and should be posted on the UKWA site soon.

PS Get there before 9.00 am and parking's normally cheaper.

West Wittering Beach

West Wittering Windsurf Club is set in the beautiful, blue flag beach of West Wittering. It is arguably one of the UK's most beautiful beach and is amazingly just over an hour from London. The beach is a private estate (West Wittering Estate) and has been preserved well with beautiful sand dunes at East Head (to the west of West Wittering Windsurf Club), massive tidal lagoons (perfect flat water!) and a very sandy beach that is free from rocks and stones.

Surrounding area

West Wittering is on the mouth of Chichester Harbour - a beautfiul, large natural harbour just outside of Chichester city centre on the south coast of the UK. The area is very rural and offers incredible walking, cycling and nature watching.

Getting to West Wittering Windsurfing Club

It takes 1 1/4 hours from South London via the A3 to Portsmouth, along the A27 to Chichester and then down the A286 to West Wittering. Just after the shops in the village (there are only three) on the right hand side there is a turning to the beach and West Wittering Estate. As you enter the estate car park West Wittering Windsurf Club is situated on the far left next to the tarmac car park.
