Andy Funnell, 1982 - 2004
Andy Funnell disappeared while jet-skiing near his home town of Seaford on Tuesday 15th June 2004.

Andy will be remembered as a great windsurfer on and off the water who always pushed the limits, whether it was double looping or partying, living the ideal windsurfing lifestyle.
I was lucky enough to be on the F2/Arrows 2002 photo shoot in Maui and one of my shots ended up on the front cover of the worldwide F2 brochure. I always like to go big in competitions and have hospitalised myself twice in two years at Pozo. The most recent was a near neck breaking double forward loop crash which cut short my PWA campaign for last year.
In 2003 my UKWA results were solid and consistent through the year and that rewarded me with the prestigious �Animal� sponsorship in November. I have changed over to Gaastra sails for 2004 and they are really working well for me, suiting my style of riding perfectly as well as being super quality.
In 2004 I will be challenging the likes of John Skye and Chris Audsley for the No 1 spot in UK Freewave as well as competing in the entire PWA World Tour. The Indoor Contest at the London Boat Show is the best result of my career so far. Doing the very first jump on a new ramp was nerve racking but going on to win the Jump Contest was great and it helped me to third place overall behind Nik Baker, the Indoor master.
I have been on the front covers of Windsurf and Boards magazines in consecutive issues this winter, an achievement I don't think any other UK windsurfer can match.
