Richard Hamilton
I started windsurfing in May 2000 for something to do in the school holiday, I had a choice of windsurfing or canoeing at our local outdoor pursuits centre but luckily I chose windsurfing!!! I started racing in summer 2001 after being a member of the North Zone Squad coached by Ali Claydon. In 2002 I started competing in the UKWA National series events to qualify for the National Squad and was selected for the new under15 Aloha squad.for 2003. The highlight of 2002 was being awarded The Rob Cartwright Trophy for enthusiasm for windsurfing.
2003 has been a great year for me and I have had a super time competing in both the UKWA Race Tour Series and North East Windsurfers Regional Series. I have travelled to many new places both at home and abroad including Poland and Mexico. Winning the UKWA Aloha Series and winning a bronze medal at the World Championships ended a great year. I would like to say thank you to Sport Aid Yorkshire & Humberside, my Team GBR coaches and to everybody, who has helped me in the sport.
