Hugh Sims-Williams

Hugh Sims Williams

Hugh Sims Williams broke back into British Windsurfing this year after a long period away from the sport.

"It is so much fun being out here again, I am really loving everything."
After some sly winter training with Keith Atkinson on Maui, Hugh started the windsurfing season on Formula with a 9th place at the South West Cup. Hugh made an obvious mark in the pecking order and from here onwards there was no stopping him. Hugh is now ranked 6th in the British National Series Rankings.

This became apparent when Hugh won a race at the Formula Europeans in Rhodes. "This was a really exciting event, I learnt so much and despite ending up in the Silver Fleet, I soon stamped down some authority and became a contender for the silver fleet title."

Fired up from his recent successes, Hugh made an impact on the RYA windsurfing program when he received his RSX race board. A large amount of time was spent learning how to sail the board and where to put the track and daggerboard to gain maximum speed.

This speed and racing knowledge held Hugh in good stead as he competed against the Best of the Best in the unofficial RSX world Championships. "I finished 26th RSX out of 110 men. The event provided some of the most exciting racing I have ever been involved in. It was a real buzz and I have set my sights on a top 15 for my next major international regatta."

Hugh will be competing on the International RSX circuit, the National circuit and is a member of the SWA Team.
