John Ellis

Taught to surf by my mother in Cornwall when I was six; I have been messing around in or on the water ever since.

I got serious about windsurfing at my first National competition at Weymouth around 1993. My addiction really took off with the introduction of the Unlimited Fleet. I enjoy attending International events. One of the best was Martigue in southern France, where we had plenty of wind and great racing.

It became apparent to me that some events were being run in the interests of the organisers rather than for the competitors, which led me to get involved in the formation of the IWA. I also became involved in setting up the UKWA and am now acting Chair.
