Directions
If travelling from North of the River Thames, then take the Dartford crossing on the M25 and then follow the M2 towards Canterbury.
If travelling from South of London or the West, take the M25 to junction 5, then take the M26 and join the M20. Follow this for a few junctions until you reach the A249 (Junction 7, Detling Road). Take this road and join the M2 at junction 5.From either of the above routes, follow the M2 East until the motorway ends at junction 7. Get in the right hand lane and take the A299 towards Margate.
Once you're on the A299 towards Margate, go past Whitstable (nice town to visit for when it isn't windy), then past Herne Bay. You will then reach a large roundabout.Take the second exit towards Margate on the A28. After a mile or so, you will have reached a mini roundabout at the top of the main shopping street for the village of Birchington.
At this mini roundabout, turn left, and continue through the main shopping street. Stop in the village to pick up provisions if you need anything, such as pies or Mars bars.Keep going past all the shops, under the railway bridge, and eventually, after another mile, you will reach the sea at Minnis Bay.
Turn left when you are at the T-junction facing the sea. Continue to the end of the road and into the car park.
If travelling from Dover, take the A2 out of town and after 1 mile take the 2nd exit onto the A256 signposted Ramsgate, Sandwich.
Follow the A256 for 18 miles and then take 1st exit onto the A299 signposted London, Canterbury, M2.
After approx 3 miles, take the 3rd exit onto Minster road B2048 and continue until reaching Birchington. Follow the signs to Minnis Bay from there.
