About the Club
Oxford SC is one of the premier inland water sailing clubs and waters in the southern half of England. Situated in an elevated position above the wide expanses of the upper Thames flood plain. The club enjoys excellent wind conditions from the prevailing westerlies. There is excellent and plentiful car parking, on the lower level, a large clubhouse with showers and changing facilities and launching from a large concrete apron. Hot food and bar available in newly extended clubhouse. The Car Park is owned by Thames Water who have introduced a £2 charge on exit of the carpark which may still be in operation for the event.
The Club is located on a large reservoir 5 miles to the west of Oxford between the villages of Cumnor and Farmoor. It is easily reached from major routes: A34, M40, A420 and the A40 and is shown on most road maps. If you propose to find us with Sat Nav or a route planner, use OX2 9NS as your point of reference for the club. Map and link below.
There will be a designated area for trailers up near the club house, but cars/motorhomes will need to be returned to the car park. Notification of when the gates will be closed to be posted here prior to the event. Please remember if you are dropping your trailer off on the Friday night there will be a £2 charge to exit the Car Park introduced by Thames Water.
Overnight parking and camping is NOT permitted by Thames Water at the Sailing Club. As previously camping will be arranged locally – details will be posted here prior to the event as depending on the weather we may not be able to use our usual field (which is is £10 for two nights and £7 for one night).
