Slalom 4 - Hunstanton

Sat 16th - Sun 17th July

About Slalom

UKWA Slalom represents windsurfing in its purest form. No matter what your ability, the kit you use or the discipline you specialise in, everyone can relate to the exhilaration of blasting back and forth, trying to squeeze that extra bit of juice out of your kit whilst racing your mates.

At an event you choose a fleet to join depending on your ability, and blast around a simple course, trying to get to the finish the quickest!

At the events, there are several fleets:

For the second year Hunstanton will be hosting the BSA Tour competitors over the weekend of 16th-17th July. Once again, we will be alongside the BKSA kitesurf guys showcasing watersports at the annual 'Lifestyles' extreme sport festival which has been growing over the last 3 years and now attracts over 20,000 people over the 3 days.

Don't forget, women and girls get free entry.

Lifestyles 2011, 15-17th July

The event last year provided reliable windy racing on flat water for all levels to have fun and with the festival running alongside, everyone has a perfect view of the windsurf spectacle. This year we will also have dedicated ‘Mic’ spots where we can give spectators live racing commentary or if we are not racing will interview sailors and showcase windsurfing to the 6000 strong crowd on the green. This year Team QSW,  alongside Thommen and Severne, will be hosting a FREE bbq and beer keg in the members enclosure on the Saturday evening for competitors  with live music from the ‘chill-out’ stage. There is also the main live stage where some big names will be appearing (Justin Timberland apparently... or not!) with bigger beer tent.

The event is also extremely family friendly - there are activities put on for kids from 7 years old, or you can watch the extreme skating, BMX displays, or street dancing on the main stage.

We will have a new rigging area further south along the beach front in a car park so getting kit onto the beach will be even easier than last year. Camping is also available which we recommend you book online via Paypal in advance as there is no local overnight camping alternative. Costs are from £15  for the weekend.

Then head down through the town to the Sailing Club on the promenade (it will be very easy to find!). Here we can  brief you as to the parking and BBQ in the evening.

Saturday

Head for the car park on the map and the UKWA trailer will be there. Further details in Bob’s morning briefing.

Any questions just call Neil on 07515 553535.
