BBC Sportsman Nomination for Keith Atkinson

The BBC has nominated the UK Formula Windsurfing Champion Keith Atkinson for the BBC South East sports awards. The ceremony is to be held on the 4th December at the Hilton Hotel in Brighton and will be filmed for Broadcast on BBC South East and Southern counties radio and also televised on the BBC South East news.

The BBC have recognised Keith Atkinson's outstanding achievements this year in both the UK and abroad, he's made his mark in numerous prestigious international competitions by taking some top results. Keith finished second in the French National Championships. In August, beating the worlds best windsurfers, he won the Swiss Euro Cup event at Lake Silvaplana. Keith then returned to England to race in the last of the British Championship series to take the overall UK Championship title.

Keith Atkinson has also been doing our sport proud by promoting windsurfing in numerous shows around the UK. The most recent was the London Caravan and Outdoor exhibition at Earls Court where he displayed his sails on his Sponsors stand, Bilbo's Design. The stand was very near the entrance of the show, with over 40,000 people passing through, the sails were certainly attracting lots of attention, in fact some were more interested in the sails than the vans! Keith has been very active recently finding new ways to attract younger and older people into the sport. A great ambassador for windsurfing.
