4 Nations: New Dates and wildcards for PWA

5 June 2007

Chris Audsley at Tiree 2006.We apologise for the delay in confirming the final two events of the Four Nations Cup but here they are!

ROUND 3: Tiree, 3-5 October (with the 6 Oct as a roll over day)
ROUND 4: West Wittering, 26-28 Oct (Friday Pros only)

Four Nations Cup: PWA Tiree Wild Cards

As we all know, the PWA Wave Tour will be on Tiree from Saturday 6th Oct for one week. The UKWA event has therefore been moved to before the PWA event allowing sailors to compete for Wild Cards into the PWA event. This is how it is going to work:

Tiree action from 2006. The JUNIOR, YOUTH and AMATUER fleets will be as normal. The PRO fleet will be open to any sailor of any age from any part of the world. So if an Amateur or Youth sailor wants to have a go at trying to get a wild card into the PWA event then they can also enter the Pro fleet as well as there own category. Obviously this means some sailors may be competing in two fleets but we will be ready for this!

The UKWA have two wild cards which are to be given to the TOP TWO BRITISH PRO sailors after three rounds of Four Nations, i.e. from the overall of Ireland, Rhosneigr & Tiree events.

Andy Groom has 4 wild cards from the PWA. These will go to the TOP 4 of the Tiree Pro fleet whether that is a foreigner, a UK Pro sailor or a UK Youth sailor etc. Obviously if the No.1 & No.2 British Pro sailors are within that top 4, then the wild cards will be given to the 5th and 6th positions.

The important thing is that anyone can enter the Pro fleet. In terms of getting a Four Nations Cup result for the British Pro fleet we will pull the ‘foreigners' out of the final results.

We hope this is clear and you can all get on with booking your ferry + accommodation. If you have any problems with this or want any more info about the Tiree event email Louise Emery (louise@boardseeker.com).
