35 entries for Rhosneigr....

11 May 2008

Despite the lack of wind & waves at Rhosneigr, the 35 entrants who made their way to North Wales had a cracking weekend of longboard windsurfing on Konas and SUP's, wake boarding behind the Funsport jet bike, snowboarding and endless toboggan runs at Llandudno Ski Centre and of course some quality evening entertainment courtesy of Dave Buckland and his crew.

There was some competition in the form of a 'fun freestyle' session for the Youths & Juniors who took it rather too seriously despite the judges telling them to relax and enjoy the challenge of showing off their freestyle talents in 5 knots of breeze!! The guys even got a some top tips off Club Vass guru Colin Dixon in between the heats.

The winner was Aleksy Gayda with Connor Bainbridge in second, Tom Bennett-Lloyd in third.

Sunday saw glorious sunshine and absolutely no wind so at midday a halt was called to proceedings and the goodie bags were duly handed out to all competitors except the Pros who split their prize money between them. Everyone agreed it had been a really good, chilled out event with great social!

Just goes to show that you can have a good time windsurfing even with no wind during National Windsurfing Week!

Big thanks to the event sponsors: Funsport, O'Shea, Pryde Group, Circle One, Rip Curl Ladies, Boards & More, Llandudno Ski Centre and demo gear from Kona boards, Starboard SUP's and Turfdog.

Many thanks to Adrian and Louise at Boardseeker for reporting and photos :
