UKWA Wave Round 1: Brandon Bay
9 March 2009
Wednesday 6th May to Sunday 10th May, hosted by Jamie Knox Watersports
After several discussions with Stena Line, the 'special event codes' to give us cheaper ferries are not as cheap as the Stena Line Spring Sale which is currently taking place. Stena Line say they cannot beat the 'sale prices' and these won't last for long so BOOK NOW.
The good news is that they are cheaper than last year (even with our event discount for the 2008 event).
At the moment, return from Holyhead for TWO adults in a car/MPV/4x4 (that includes a VW transporter), economy fare is £118. The quicker ferry to Dun Laoghaire is slightly more expensive. The Fishguard/Rosslare route is again £118 paying slightly more for a cabin if you wish for more comfort.
They is also a chance the Swansea-Cork ferry will be up and running but at the moment Stena Line is the only option and those fares are cheap. You can also fly from Stansted to Kerry with Ryan Air very cheaply if you book now. Taking windsurfing kit costs an extra £57.
Registration
To speed things up on the first day of competition (Wed 6th) we are holding registration on Tuesday evening between 9-11pm at Spillane's Pub. This should give most of you the time to travel from the ferry ports to Brandon Bay on Tuesday evening. If you miss this (due to ferry/road delay) then we will hold a final registration at 0830 at Jamie Knox Watersports on Wednesday morning with a Skippers Meeting at 0900. But the more people we registrar on the Tuesday night the better. Information about the cost of entry to follow.
Sunday 10th
Sunday will be a provisional competition day if the wind/waves don't co-operate on the previous four days. If we have a result we will run an Expression Session with prizes on the Sunday. Whatever happens we will finish official competition in time for you to drive to the ferry ports (Dublin/Rosslare) to catch the latest 9pm ferry crossings.
SO BOOK YOUR FERRY NOW!
