Weymouth Sailing Academy
RYA Youth & Masters / UKWA British Open Championships
124 sailors turned out to race last weekend 31st October / 1st November for The RYA Youth & Masters / UKWA British Open at Weymouth sailing academy.
Saturday greeted competitors with sunshine and a light chilly breeze. The race officer ran 2 rounds of racing for all raceboard fleets in the morning session. The wind built to 8-10 knots and two challenging races were also held for the Formula Fleet. The wind built slightly therefore a short break for lunch was scheduled before returning to the water and glorious warm sunshine. Unfortunately the optimism was short lived, as the wind dropped to light and after a big wind shift even lighter. Two further rounds of racing were held for raceboard fleets but unfortunately the formula fleet stayed on shore for the remainder of the day.
On Saturday night there was an 18th Birthday Party for competitor Jamie Ingram (RS:X) in the function room at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, which was enjoyed by all.
