UK Wave Tour gets industry boost
5 April 2010
In it's first official season the BWA are pleased to announce financial support from the following brands: Tushingham, Starboard, Fanatic, North, JP, Neil Pryde, Simmer Sails, Mistral, Moo Custom, RRD, Ezzy, Goya, Naish, Severne, Gaastra and Tabou and not to forget Jem Hall Coaching who is also supporting the BWA.
The 2010 Tour in association with the UKWA drops in on Rhosneigr and Brandon Bay, Ireland in May then we await the October gales in Tiree for the Wave Classic finishing off the season in Cornwall.
BWA Chairman Nigel Treacy:
"The BWA Brand Sponsor Pool was a 'no-brainer'. At this challenging economic time the brands and importers need all the support they can get. The UK Wave Tour attracts a huge market and receives lots of media attention. Our aim is to ensure that members of the pool receive the best exposure to this. It is no coincidence that the initiative closely resembles the successful PWA model"
The BWA is a non-profit association and funds raised by this initiative will be used to ensure the brands get maximum exposure at the events and through the BWA website. A small amount will be used to promote initiatives to boost attendance figures, in turn helping the wavesailing market to grow.
Nigel adds,
"When we launched the BWA we listened to everyone; brands, importers, media and members. There is clearly a great deal of love and passion for wavesailing. It is imperative that we all work together to grow what is undoubtedly the most exciting, inspiring and aspirational windsurfing discipline".
Pool members receive incredible benefits including: event flags, logo'd vests, brochure distribution, website exposure, results branded and event image provision. The scheme is limited to sail and board brands but due to the success of the scheme the BWA are now looking at accessory brands.
