RYA Update

17 September 2013

Last week Ian Roberts informed us at the RYA of his tough decision to stand down as the RYA UK Junior Squad Head Coach for this coming winter.  This is not a decision that Ian has taken lightly, with increasing work and personal commitments tipping the balance over his time that he felt he could allocate to the squad.  We are very understanding of Ian's decision and appreciate his reasons for stepping aside and thank him for the huge energy and commitment that he has given to the programme over his last 15 years, and especially the last couple of years as the RYA Head UK Junior Squad Coach.  Ian's  passion and dedication to managing and running a World Class programme for the UK Junior Techno sailors will be sorely missed and we wholeheartedly wish him the best for the future.

This has left us with decisions to make and in a relatively short time period based on the turnaround for the start of the new squad year programme.  I will update as to our appointment on the 'acting' RYA UK Junior Squad Head Coach as soon as I can.

*Please note that all dates that were published on the RYA website for this winter have been removed until we can confirm the winter 2013/14 dates with the new coaching team.

Kind Regards,
