Slalom 3 Cancelled

Unfortunately the pre entry threshold of 30 main course entries for Slalom 3 at Christchurch this coming weekend has not been reached, therefore regrettably the event is Cancelled.

For some time now numbers attending slalom events have been consistently low. The organisers have done their best to vocalise the message to competitors that this level of support can not continue. Events are loosing money and as indicated at The UKWA AGM the association no longer has the funds available to support loss making activities. A line must now be drawn. To be absolutley clear the event break even point sits somewhere between 40-50 entries depending on location therefore 30 pre entries was only a minimum starting position. Quality and Safety cannot and will not be compromised.

We are thankful to 4Boards for supporting this event and to OTC/Surf Doctor for supporting the WingFoil fleet, we apologise that we are unable to proceed.

Thank you to everyone who did their best to encourage entry, there was a lot of social media activity. Special thanks to Marti who set up a questionnaire, Marti will be putting this information gathered into order and we will be studying this in detail for the future.

Thank you to everyone who did take the trouble to pre enter, if you would like to roll over your entry fee to the next event then please e-mail sue@windsports.uk by midnight on Sunday 7th July after which anyone who has not made contact will automatically be refunded.

Thank you to Christchurch Boardsailing Club and Christchurch Council for their continued support, a better venue is hard to find.

Finally thank you to all the volunteers who would have given their time this weekend to support the tour. 

It is hoped that this is a temporary setback and the tour will resume in the future.
