40 knot slalomFollowing the success of the opening round of this year British Slalom Championships the series moves onto Aberdovey in Mid wales, where Boardwise and the team will play hosts for the second year running and following 45knot winds last year and 35knot winds at Rhosneigr expectations are high for yet more exciting windsurfing and racing at one of the most scenic locations on the UKWA calender.

Rhosneigr and Funsport have set the bar pretty high following round one, with some of the most exciting and enjoyable slalom racing for a long time, with amateurs, beginners, first timers, wave sailors and professional PWA sailors all enjoying the conditions alike! Aberdovey in Mid Wales is expected to bring much of the same and with a degree of justification is almost guaranteed to deliver with its unique location at the foot of the Dyfi Valley generatinboardws-pryde-abrdvy-slm034g high probabilities due to either mountain thermals or tide driven conditions, an example of this being last years 15knot forecast bringing in 45knots of extreme windsurfing conditions and an amazing spectacle.

As well as being famous for its wind and windsurfing Aberdovey has just as much to offer shore side, if not more, a picturesque traditional fishing village nestling on the shores of the Snowdonia National Park, Aberdovey has everything to offer the family with boutique shopping, cafes, restaurants and plenty for the youngsters from crab fishing off the famous jetty to donkey rides on the long golden sand beach. If your looking for the ultimate windsurfing location as well as a place to please and entertain the family then Aberdovey is a spot worth checking out. For windsurfers the local yacht club who played great hosts last year are once again opening their doors for changing and showering facilities as well as their beneficial viewing lounge and bar!

Three fleets will be racing for a £1000 cash prize fund! yes that's right, hard cash- a prize fund that has been generously put forward by the local town traders associations and council. Pro fleet- pit your skills against the top guys, challenge- exactly that! first time racers, have a go, and groove armada- totally laid back, master blast format, race as often or as little as you like with a reduced entry fee to reflect. The itinerary for the weekend starts with drinks on the Friday night at the Dovey Arms pub, racing Saturday with a bring your own meat BBQ at the yacht club who are providing chips salads and cake etc. for all competitors on the Saturday night, followed by more racing and prize giving on Sunday.

Should we have a lull in the wind we will have numerous pro and sponsored riders on hand to cover all aspects of technique and windsurfing with clinics on speed, carve gybing, rigging and even forward loops from the Baker Windsurf Academy, technique clinics worth the entry fee alone from the likes of PWA sailors Jamie Hawkins, Matt Pearch, Ant Baker and so on! as well as technique clinics all the major manufacturers will be attending with plenty of demo kit for you to try and experience.
