Midlands season starts saturday....

Following the winter break the UKWA Midland region racing starts again this Saturday 15th March at Hollowell Sailing Club, Northampton. For further details go to www.midlandswindsurfing.org.uk

New Speed World Record!

TeamPryde's Antoine Albeau (FRA 192) has broken the world speed sailing record by 0.4 knots to set a new world record speed of 49.09 knots.
After months of waiting for the big mistral winds, the speed canal at the shores of the Mediterranean Sea came to life again ........

Cartwright relishing new RYA role...

For the past six years Helen Cartwright has played a leading role in putting Great Britain at the forefront of Junior, Youth and Olympic Classes windsurfing. Now Chester-born Cartwright has been charged with ensuring the UK's sailing and windsurfing coaches remain at the head of the international pack after being appointed the new RYA Coaching Development Manager.

Glaswegian Team15 (T15) Instructor, Andy Kerr, has been awarded one of the RYA's most prestigious coaching awards - RYA T15 Windsurfing Instructor of the Year 2008. The eagerly awaited awards ceremony took place at the world's biggest dinghy show, the RYA Dinghy Sailing Show, Alexandra Palace this weekend Saturday (01 March). Full story on Boards.

Keith does it again ....

On Sunday 24th February a packed Seckford Theatre in Woodbridge Suffolk witnessed record breaking nine times British Windsurfing Champion Keith Atkinson, being presented with the evenings' most prestigious award - Suffolk ‘Sports Personality of the Year'.

Becoming a Volvo RYA Champion Club has never been easier or more worthwhile thanks to the launch of the scheme's new website.
Following the recent announcement that Sport England is committing £1.1m to the RYA's flagship Volvo RYA Champion Club, OnBoard and Team15 youth initiatives to further enhance club coach and volunteer development across England over the next three years.........

Eastern Windsurfing Association

The E.W.A. begins its second year and plans its first race of the 2008 series on Sunday 23rd March at Alton Water, Suffolk. For anyone interested the EWA plans to hold its Annual General Meeting on Monday 25th February -to be held in the public bar of the Kings Head Public house in Stutton at 7:30. Another sunny weekend in prospect!

Forecast on Sat is 13 knots and 10 knots on Sunday, easterlies both days. Programme is probably Formula on both days.
I'll be next to the Inn on the Beach from 10am till 1pm on Sat and all day on Sunday.
It was nice to see 5 Formulas on the water last weekend, including some locals.

Speed World Cup...

Lots of things have changed since the International Speed Windsurfing Class (ISWC) has become an official ISAF international class in May 2007.
The ISWC board wants to inform you about the changes that we implemented over the winter break, giving you more service, more sailing, more fun on the water !
