Up with the Ray, down with the Trench..
Move over ‘La Trench' - the English have arrived with their very own ‘speed canal' - the Ray at Southend on Sea. Yes, this natural lagoon in sunny Essex is to become the focus for Bjorn Dunkerbeck, Dave White and 28 other invited sailors to try and break the 50knot speed barrier this winter.

www.mauiwindcam.com/streaming - Catch the waves on the reef in the North Shore of Maui. Two webcams capture the Uppers Kanaha and Camp One, famous windsurfing spots. Professional windsurfers launch right in front of the camera and train in the winter months before starting the Professional Windsurfers Association tour. (Note: The camera runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. HST but replays the previous 12 hours during dark hours).

2008 calendar confusion? ! ..
Apologies for any confusion caused by recent postings on the website, and on forums, concerning 2008 calendar of events .
The calendar is provisional, pending the finishing touches, hopefully applied before the end of this month. Not much will change -some venues need to be confirmed, some dates finalised.
I am happy to answer any enquiries you have: mail-info@ukwindsurfing.com -
UKWA calendar 2008
The 2008 calendar has been particularly difficult to put together, but for good reasons - JP/Pryde have joined forces with the UKWA for the 2008 slalom series. More on than soon, but it has made the slalom venues & dates a tad more complicated than normal so the calendar (148k PDF) is still provisional.

Should we bring back "classic freestyle"?
Why is it lost? Is it really an ‘art', and why should I do classic freestyle when I could just be sailing around? More to the point; is it really fun and why is it? Does this mean there is no fun if one doesn't freestyle? ..........

Anyone making the most of the conditions in Portland on Sat 8 Dec may have been mildly concerned when they were passed by Batman, maxed out on his 6m, closely followed by Superman and Captain America!!! Don't worry, you were not hallucinating, I will explain.

"The Ray looks amazing. As the tide drops, an incredibly long sandbank gets exposed. It's a long walk to get to the strip, but as soon as I got there I knew this is one of the few places where the record can be set." -
