UKWA News for 2007
For the first time in nearly 10 years, the Eastern region has its own windsurfing association and racing scene.
The aims of the association are to get local windsurfers together for â€˜Master Blaster' fun race days and to sail together at a variety of East Coast locations.
The final event of the season will now take place at Bournemmouth on November 17th..
On the water actvity will take the form of a Masterblaster ...the evening activity moves to the Bournemouth Pavilion for the Annual Prize Giving and end of season Party.
As you would expect there was a great festival atmosphere at the 2007 Poole Animal Windfest.! Unfortunately there was not a lot of wind - only one championship round for Junior, Youth and Amateur sailors, and a Pro Expression session.
Plenty of racing at last weekends Youth and Masters with 7 or 8 races for raceboad and techno fleets and 4 races for formula.
Over 170 competitors battled it out for this years honours- 23 open juniors; 84 techno juniors; 44 raceboard and 20 formula.
The wetsuit and clothing brand GUL have generously donated fantastic goody bags for all UKWA competitors worth over £50 each. We also have some great prizes for the Amateur, Youth. & Junior fleets including GUL Delta wetsuits!

The Pro's National Championship will be run over Fri, Sat and Sun as stated but there will also be a National Freestyle Championship Event for Ladies, Amateurs, Youths and Juniors over the weekend with registration on Saturday from 0930-1030.
There are still a few places available on the Camp and this weekend is your last chance to get a confirmed pre-entry in.

The 2007 FAT FACE WINDSURFING FESTIVAL was a resoundng success - despite the poor wind forecast 300 sailors registered for this years event.
...introduced for the first time - the Night Time Materblaster Challenge, the top 60 freeride racers from the saturday series invited to compete.
Team GBR win two world titles at the Formentera World Championships. Ali Masters (u17) and Sam Sills (u15) emerged victorious in the 2007 Techno 293 World Championships. A further 2 races on the last day to complete a full series of 12 races for all fleets.
A great end to a successful championship.

The first formula windsurfing Grand prix to take place in the uk was won by Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG3).
Seven races were completed over the 5 days of the Whiteair Festival in predominantly light to medium offshore winds. All the sailors considered the event a great success and are looking forward to returning in 2008.
Freestyle! - Kids Freestyle Festival. Rutland Water - Sat 27th & Sun 28th October 2007 will offer youngsters the opportunity to develop their skills in the sport's most creative and expressive discipline.
Whiteair 2007 starts today , and windsurfing will be strongly represented at the "extreme festival" - featuring a leg of formula windsurfing international Grand Prix tour , and round one of UKWA Freestyle championships .
UK racers will be well represented in the formula event commencing on tuesday ; and the pre entry list for the freestyle looks impressive . Freestyle registration commences on friday morning - if you have not booked the weekend on the IOW it still not too late .
