North Sea Cup / Stena Line Cup 2

Following the last North Sea Cup event, UKWA Chairman, Bob Ingram received an e-mail from Robert Jan with a potential problem, see below

Bob said ' wow this is the sort of problem I like, bring it on, we had a good turn out at the first of the UKWA Stena Line Cup series and with our friends joining us from Europe for the bank holiday weekend we are looking forward to a great event'

Cup 1 saw a few new faces and we are hoping that they will be joining us again at Herne Bay, which is a great venue with easy launching and a great club house. If you have not been to a UKWA event before this is a great place to start. We will make sure you feel at home and there will be plenty of help on and off the water to make this a great experience. Come along and join in. if you need any advice before or at the event contact Bob on 07889-161780 or racing-09@ukwindsurfing.com

Don't forget there will be a free event T shirt for the first 120 entries and a free meal for all competitors on Saturday night

From Robert Jan

Last night, on my way back home from Ostend I've had plenty of time to analyze this weekend's event.

Wow, 75 competitors on Techno! Big thanks to all clubs and coaches supporting the event.

That's almost 80, the maximum number of competitors to start in 1 group, according to the class' championship rules.

With maybe less competitors advancing through the pathway next year, and more Techno kids extending their careers in the Techno293 Open division just a bit longer.

We might end up with some NSC events having more than 80 Techno kids showing up at the start.

Something to think about and review: What would be the impact on your national/regional qualifiers, rankings and selection events if the North Sea Cup organizers would decide to split the Techno293 fleet up in groups?

For example seperate the boys and girls or split 6.8's from 7.8's ? There are many options available.

We might choose to not split the groups, but then again the crew on the starting line might have a hard time spotting the over-earlies.

Hope you've enjoyed this weekend as much as I did. See you next time in Wimereux.
